About us

Hi. I’m Phill Simon – an interactive media producer, program designer, teacher, and consultant. I began my digital media career at Yale where I worked for 22 years. After Yale, I began teaching interactive media at Quinnipiac University.

I have partnered with Jan Bush who agreed to help create a venture to provide the breadth of experience and skills needed to meet the communication and design demands required of today’s businesses.

Let’s face it — communicating today is more than a one-person job. We augment teams and we can complete turnkey projects. You choose. Our business model allows us to be flexible working within your resources.

A little bit about me

At the age of 13, visual storytelling became a part of my DNA with my first 35mm camera. I owned Nikon and Leica film cameras and loved them all.

In college, I merged my photography and drawing skills into traditional printmaking. During my master’s program in the 1980s, I began experimenting with multimedia techniques – marrying image and sound to express ideas.

Shortly after, I collaborated with dance and theater companies to create sound designs for their performances. This led me to produce videos.

In 1987 the Yale School of Medicine hired me to establish their internal video production unit. By 1992, I moved my design approach to digital. This time I used computer graphics to express ideas.

Eventually, I became an online educational specialist at Yale. Over the 22 years, my responsibilities grew. Positions included Director of Operations for Web Design and Development at the Yale School of Medicine, Director of Operations for the Yale Center for Advanced Instructional Media, and Director of Biomedical Communications.

In 2009 I began working at Quinnipiac University as the Director of the Interactive Media graduate program in the School of Communications. Through the years I have helped launch careers for hundreds of talented designers, developers, coders, artists, data experts and digital researchers around the globe. It’s been extremely rewarding.

Insightful Media brings a new beginning

In the fall of 2018, I joined the faculty at Quinnipiac University. This move gives me the flexibility to do more professional and research development.

I continue to teach as a senior instructor in the Department of Interactive Media and Design. In the Department of Medical Sciences at the Frank H. Netter School of Medicine, I still serve as an assistant professor where I mentor medical students in health communications.

My goal is to help organizations develop and engage their audiences through the digital media that works for them.

I would enjoy discussing how we can work for you. Contact me if you have any questions. Email me using our contact form or call me at 203-680-0840.

Wishing you all the best,

“Your courses were always the most interactive online courses that I had ever taken, it often didn’t even feel like it was a remote classroom, particularly with your online crits, those were my favorite!”

My experience in the ICM program shaped how I approach digital marketing. Phillip Simon, the director of that program, captured they ways they created a rich online learning experience at QU. I loved learning this way.

Great online teaching resources for all who have to move quickly from a traditional classroom. I have worked with Phil at Yale University and Quinnipiac University, and he is one of the best at utilizing these kind of resources.
